The Wombat: World Traveller

Last month, The Wombat went on a long trip on the Trans Siberia Express: from Moscow all the way to Beijing!! Naturally in Moscow the famous Red Square was visited and The Wombat curiously studied every detail, from the Kremlin to Saint Basil's Cathedral and the Lenin's Tomb.

From there it was by train through the heart of Russia. The Russian countryside was beautiful, but after a few days not all that inspiring. That changed when our little traveller arrived in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator. The Wombat was delighted with the warm welcome of the local population, especially on the little expedition through the vast and spectacular plains around Ulan Bator. It was also very nice to stretch its little legs after all those days on the train.

Then, after a minor hold up at the Chinese/Mongolian border, on to the last stop: Beijing. An overwhelming experience, The Wombat thought. The Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Tiananmen Square with Mao's Tomb. And of course a visit to the Great Wall!

Crossing half the Asian continent: an exhausting but a trip worthwhile!

Comic Time!

Today The Wombat went to sniff up culture at the Amsterdam Uitmarkt: a festive start of the new cultural and theatrical season. Being a huge comic fan (yet another facet of the wondrous personality of The Wombat you did not know about), our fury friend met a real comic artist! Floor de Goede (simply known as ' Flo') loved to have his picture taken with The Wombat, especially after he realized Tori Amos was a personal friend of The Wombat. For more info about Flo (even if you cannot read Dutch it is worth a visit) click here, since Flo's style definitely matches The Wombat's cuteness.

Home Sweet Home!

At last The Wombat arrived back home! After crossing the dark backlands of Russia, the vast planes of Mongolia and the mysterious regions of China, The Wombat returned to its little country by the sea.

You'll have to wait a little bit more for all the wonderful adventures, though. First our furry friend needs a whole lot of sleep. Covering such a great distance is exhausting when you have such short legs!

It's Oh So Quiet

Between all the travelling The Wombat also takes time to relax. Like in this peaceful cloister garden in the city of Utrecht. In this tranquil rest The Wombat quietly pondered about all its plans and dreams, the state of the world and the meaning of life in general.
